Lila B. Van Dorston

Lila B. Van Dorston, 97, passed away unexpectedly Monday afternoon, May 13, 2013, at IU Health Goshen Hospital. She was born July 3, 1915 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Ralph and Hazel (Cripe) Minnich. She married Karl R. Van Dorston June 20, 1936. He died February 24, 2008. She is survived by a grandson, Derek Van Dorston of San Francisco, California, and three nephews, James, Stephen and Lonn Minnich. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Philip Lonn Van Dorston; a grandson, Baron Van Dorston and two brothers, Lonn and Ralph Minnich. A Goshen resident since 1924, Mrs. Van Dorston graduated from Goshen High School in 1933. She was a member of First United Church of Christ for more than 50 years where she was very active in the Women's Guild, the Idalk Class and a charter member of the Over 60's. She will be remembered as a loving wife, caring mother and beloved grandmother. A private graveside service will be conducted at Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Boys & Girls Club of Goshen.
