Lewis Edward Hartzler, 65, of Angola, died early Sunday morning, April 29, 2007, at Elkhart Rehabilitation Center, Elkhart. He was born in Elkhart on December 11, 1941, to John L. and Catherine (Fisher) Hartzler. A 1959 graduate of Concord High School and a Goshen College graduate, Mr. Hartzler was a member of Lake Bethel Mennonite Church in LaGrange, Indiana. He was active in Gideons International. He was a medical technician and an amateur radio operator. He is survived by three daughters, Joy Ruby Hartzler, Susan Donna Hartzler and Mary Kaye Hartzler, all of Ontario, Canada; a grandson, Alen David Vollmer; three sisters, Juanita Kay Hartzler of Las Vegas, New Mexico, Laveta M. Randall of Bristol, Indiana and Vivian (John) Hunt of Kansas City, Missouri; and four brothers, Ernest E. Hartzler of Rockville, Indiana, Galen Hartzler, Ken (Jan) Hartzler of Manheim, Pennsylvania and Wayne (Nickie) Hartzler of Terra Haute, Indiana. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rudy Hartzler in 1972. Friends will be received Wednesday, May 2, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church. An 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2007, funeral service will be conducted at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church. Rev. Wes Bontreger will officiate. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International.
