Lester W. Shriner

Lester W. Shriner, 95, of Goshen,  died Monday, September 11, 2017 at Greencroft Healthcare.

He was born February 6, 1922 in Clarksville, Michigan to Frank and Katie (Miller) Shriner.

On October 19, 1940 he married Mildred L. Weaver in Wakarusa.  She died August 26, 1973.  On May 18, 1974 he married Charlotte M. (Lehman) Hettmansperger.  She died December 5, 2013.

Survivors include four sons, Larry (Phyllis) Shriner, Stan (Jean) Shriner and Randy (Meredith) Shriner, all of Goshen and Brian (Tammy) Shriner, Elkhart; two daughters, Sue (John) Bowman, Osceola and Sharon (Ken) Stoll, Elkhart; two stepdaughters, Rhonda Weaver, Raleigh, North Carolina and Jane (Saul) Bryant, Elkhart; a stepson, James Hettmansperger, Vandalia, Michigan; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Lloyd Bontrager and sister-in-law, Gloria (Merl) Tyson, both of Goshen.

Along with his parents and two wives, Lester was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Bontrager; a stepson, Doug J. Hettmansperger and three sisters, Alice Shriner, Lillian Cron and Irene Hartman.

Mr. Shriner retired in 1995 from Lechlitner Plumbing and Heating.

A member of Calvary Baptist Church, Elkhart, he enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Friends may call Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 9:30 until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Calvary Baptist Church, 27664 C.R. 24, Elkhart.  Pastor Timothy Wesco will officiate.

Burial will follow in Olive West Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the church.
