Lester Grotrian, 82, of Shipshewana, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born May 23, 1934 in Decatur to Edwin and Edna (Thieme) Grotrian.
On June 27, 1954 he married Barbara Rae Auer in Elkhart. She died July 18, 2016.
Survivors include four children, Kim (Jim) Miller of Middlebury, Mark (Diane) Grotrian of Goshen, Christine (Jerry) Yoder of Millersburg and Kimi (Christopher) Healey of League City, Texas; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a brother, Carlton (Brenda) Grotrian of Dunlap.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a grandson, Brice A. Miller; a granddaughter-in-law, Carla Grotrian and a great-grandson, Liam A. Grotrian.
From 1956 to 1958 he served with the U.S. Army as part of the motor pool making mobile bridges and tracking supplies.
Mr. Grotrian earned his associates degree in accounting from University of Madison, Wisconsin. He worked as an accountant and book keeper at Johnson Controls for years before founding and serving as president of Penn Credit Union. He also worked as a book keeper for Grotrian Tool and Die for 20 years.
Outside of work he anticipated his annual fishing trips.
He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Goshen.
Friends may call Sunday, September 11, 2016, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be on Monday, September 12, from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Goshen. Rev. Andrew Wollman will officiate.
Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church Building Fund or Bethesda Lutheran Communities.
