LeRoy Charles Wray, son of Lawrence and Alice (Moore) Wray, Lewis, Ecker was born on July 30, 1934 in Surrey, North Dakota and went to be with the Lord on Thursday December 16, 2021 at the age of 87 after complications from a heart condition.
When Dad was two years old his family moved from North Dakota to Indiana where he grew up and met his wife of 69 years, Shirley Brubaker. They were baptized and accepted the Lord as their Savior in August 1952 and were members of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, New Conference. Dad remained a faithful follower of Jesus and an example to all until his death. They married October 22, 1952.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Shirley Wray; his children, Elsie and Harold Youtzy of Morristown Minnesota, Sheryl Wray of Flora, Maralee and Dennis Holsinger of Goshen, Arden and Debbie Wray of Albertville, Minnesota and Jeanette and David Dutter of St. Ignatius, Montana; 32 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; a sister, Wilma Metgzer; a brother-in-law Terry Parker; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Peggy and Marvin Wise, Connie and John Reese and sister-in-law, Marge Brubaker; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother in-law; sister and brother-in-law Lucille and Ray Blocher; brother, Eldon Wray; brother-in-law Carl Metgzer; sister Glenna Parker; a son Lawrence Wray and a grandson, Andrew Wray.
In his retirement, Dad enjoyed running a small RV repair shop, delivering trailers, traveling, camping and visiting his children and friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, from 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Cornerstone Mennonite Church, 24546 CR 44, Nappanee. A funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at the church. Burial will follow at the Old German Baptist Brethren Cemetery, CR 40, Wakarusa, Indiana.
The family wishes to express our deep appreciation for all the prayers, love, messages of sympathy and comfort we have received in our time of sadness. Your prayers have comforted us, your support has strengthened us and your kindness will always be remembered.
