LeRoy "Pete" O. Yoder, 84, of Elkhart, formerly of CR 11 Goshen, died Friday afternoon, March 7, 2014 at Greenleaf Living Center, Elkhart. He was born December 4, 1929 in Elkhart County, to Flawn and Anna (Hunsberger) Yoder. On March 23, 1946 he married Virginia E. "Ginny" Rich in Elkhart. She died January 4, 2011. He is survived by three daughters, Vicki L. Martin, of Atlanta, Georgia, Sally J. Yoder, of Peru, and Sherry K. (Terry) Large, of Elkhart; a son, Kenneth (Jodi) Yoder, of Union, Michigan; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a sister, Ella May Stickel, of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a sister, Jeannette Edwards. He owned and operated Pete Yoder Excavating and Bulldozing for more than 40 years. An active member at Dunlap United Methodist Church, he volunteered for many church activities. He enjoyed spending time fishing, entertaining grandchildren, and gardening with special attention to over 900 tulips. He and Ginny spent happy times wintering in Florida, along with trips to Hawaii and Alaska. Friends may call Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from 1 until the 3 pm funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Dr. Joe Smith, Dunlap United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will at a later date at Frame Cemetery, Elkhart. Memorial contributions may be directed to Dunlap United Methodist Church.
