Leroy Henry Kliever, 83, of Elkhart, died early Monday morning, December 1, 2014, at Riverside Village. He had been in failing health the past 15 months. He was born August 25, 1931 in Dallas, Oregon to Henry and Martha (Toevs) Kliever. On July 29, 1978 he married Grace Ellen (Smith) Stutzman. She survives along with six step-sons, Dennis (Ronda) Stutzman of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Gary (Joanne) Stutzman of Corvallis, Oregon, Ernest (Sue) Stutzman of Magnolia, Texas, Lester (Dianna) Stutzman and Marvin (Sherri) Stutzman, both of Goshen and Martin (Carol) Stutzman of Charlottesville, Virginia; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie (Robert) Morris of Granger. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-mother, Elizabeth Kliever. A longtime resident of Oregon, Mr. Kliever was a volunteer fireman, a member of Rotary International and the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church. After Leroy and Grace moved to Springfield, Mo. they attended Second Baptist Church. Friends may call Saturday, December 6, 2014, one hour prior to the 3 p.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Dr. Robert Morris, Leroy's brother-in-law, will officiate. Cremation at Yoder-Culp Crematory will follow the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Riverside Village Auguste Memory Care Unit. A courtyard swing will be purchased for the residents' enjoyment.
