Leon Jay Nafziger, 83, died Thursday, November 19, 2020, at Courtyard Healthcare.
He was born Novembewr 3, 1937 in Archbold, Ohio where he grew up on the family farm. Prior to his marriage he served two years of 1W Service in LaJunta, Colorado.
On April 30, 1960 he married Juanita Brenneman at East Goshen Mennonite Church. They raised their family in Goshen and have been active Goshen residents.
She survives along with three children, Kathy (Len) Emery, Donna M. (Mark) DeVito and Daryl (Colleen) Nafziger, all of Goshen; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five sisters, Carolyn (Howard) Snyder of Pettisville, Ohio, Alene (Danny) DeCoster of Belgium, Tiye (Patrick) Calavan of Loma Colorado, Julia (Steve) Nafziger of Archbold, Ohio and Angela (Steve) Gerig of Goshen; and two brothers, P. Joe (Carol) Nafziger of Wauseon, Ohio and Gilbert James Nafziger of Archbold, Ohio.
Along with his parents, Ervin Jay and Marjorie (Aeschliman) Nafziger, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and George Nafziger.
An attendee of Clinton Frame Church, family was very important to Leon, especially his grandchildren.
Mr. Nafziger was most recently a groundskeeper at Das Dutchman Essenhaus, Middlebury. He also worked at Burger Dairy, Troyer Poultry and Starcraft Marine. He enjoyed the outdoor activities like gardening and mowing.
Visitation will be Monday, November 23, 2020, from 12, noon, until 1:30 p.m. at Clinton Frame Church. A 2:00 p.m. funeral service will be held Monday at the church. Nephew, Ryan Nafziger, will officiate.
Memorial donations may be given to Clinton Frame Church.
