Leon E. Mast, 76, of Goshen, died Tuesday evening, May 29, 2007, at Goshen General Hospital. He had been ill for two months. He was born in Nappanee, Indiana, to Emery L. and Laura (Yoder) Mast, on January 7, 1931. He married Ruth Cole on August 9, 1952. She survives. The owner of General Construction Company for 30 years, Mr. Mast, also served as a Goshen Housing Authority Inspector for several years. He worked on remodeling the city offices at the old high school on South Fifth St. in Goshen; and for the past four years has been project manager for Shalom House, through MCC. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church since December 1950 and served as an assisting minister at the church. He enjoyed golfing and was part of a group call “Sod Busters”. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two sons, Randy (Vicki) Mast of Syracuse and Ken (Sabina) Mast of Goshen, two grandsons; and two sisters, Anna Mae (Melvin) Yoder and Alice Hite, both of Goshen. He was preceded in death by a brother, Olen Mast. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 1, at the funeral home and 9:30 to 10:00 a.m., Saturday, at the church. A 10:00 a.m. funeral service will be conducted at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Goshen, on Saturday, June 2, 2007. Pastor Laura Meier of the Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Thomas Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Goshen Hospital Foundation.
