Leo Sanford Radkey, 91, of Goshen, died Saturday morning, August 29, 2009, at Courtyard Healthcare. He was born in Goshen on September 30, 1917, to the late Andrew and Murel (Sanford) Radkey.  He married Marie Keil on November 23, 1946 in Goshen.  She preceded him in death on September 30, 1979. Mr. Radkey owned and operated Radkey Monument Works in Goshen.  He served in the Marine Corps during World War II from 1942 to 1945.  He saw action in Guadalcanal, New Britain and Palau Islands.  He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the VFW and the DAV in Goshen.  He had his private pilot’s license and enjoyed flying. He is survived by two daughters, Rita Radkey of Goshen and Carol (Jeffrey) Blair of Leesburg; two sons, Thomas (Janet) Radkey of Dubois, Wyoming, and Jeffrey Radkey of Syracuse; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; a son, Gary Radkey in 2004; three sisters, Arlene Keil, Doris Keil and Betty West; and a brother, Robert Radkey. Friends may call 5 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, September 3, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. A funeral mass will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, September 4, 2009, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Goshen, with Father Christopher Smith officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Goshen DAV or VFW or St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
