Lena L. Carpenter

Lena L. Carpenter, 90, of Goshen, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at Greencroft Healthcare.
She was born January 13, 1926 in Goshen to Ira and Fern (Elliott) Shidler.
On April 17, 1948 she married Donald A. Carpenter at the West Goshen Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by three sons, Robert (Grace) Carpenter, Millersburg, Randall (Peggy) Carpenter and Kirby Carpenter, both of Goshen; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Treva Shidler. A brother, Walter Shidler, died Thursday, February 11, 2016, a day after Lena’s death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Roger Carpenter in 1953; a daughter, Linda Burkey in 2012; and four brothers, Frank, Harry, Roy and John Shidler.
A graduate of Goshen High School, Mrs. Carpenter was a member of Rock Run Church of the Brethren. She worked as a secretary at Martin’s Feed and ASCS (Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Services) until retiring in 1984. She volunteered with the Goshen Hospital Auxiliary.
Friends may call Saturday, February 13, 2016, from 10 a.m. until the 12, noon, funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Tim Waits of Rock Run Church of the Brethren will officiate.
Burial will follow at Rock Run Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Rock Run Church of the Brethren.
