Lavonne J. Yoder

LaVonne J. Yoder, 93, of Goshen, passed away Monday, June 12, 2023 at Greencroft Healthcare.

She was born March 28, 1930 in Sibley, Illinois to Leonard and Esther (Smith) Becker.

Mrs. Yoder is survived by a daughter, Lynn (Jim) Arends of La Crescent, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Adam (Kristen) Arends, David Arends, Rachel (Jared) Lind, and Andrew (Ashley) Arends; and nine great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are her special grandchildren by marriage, Kathy Braid and her children.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, David McKibbin; husband, Victor Yoder; and a brother, Leonard G. Becker.

She owned and operated LaVonne’s Beauty Shop, where she enjoyed taking care of and listening to her customers. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Goshen. LaVonne was very active in music, singing with the Evergreen Singers, the Elkhart County Extension Choir, and the church choir. Spending time with grandchildren was always a highlight for her.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 202 South Greene Road, Goshen, where an 11 a.m. funeral service will be held.

Burial will take place at Violett Cemetery following a light luncheon after the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to Faith Lutheran Church, or the Greencroft Evergreen Singers.
