Lauren Edward Schneider

Lauren “Larry” E. Schneider, 79, of Goshen, died early Thursday morning,  August 19, 2010 at Courtyard Healthcare, Goshen. He was born in Sunnyside, Washington, on October 6, 1930, to Arie and Wilma (Schut) Schneider and lived most of his adult life in western Washington State.  He married Lois Haygood on February 2, 1958 in Riverside, California.  He leaves behind his loving wife of 52 years, Lois; and his children, Timothy (Shirley) Schneider of  Goshen, Laurene (Michael) Rosen of Dallas, Texas, Lynette Schneider of Tacoma, Washington, Kristine (David) Neal of Nixa, Missouri, Tom Schneider of Boise, Idaho, Sheryl Schneider of Seattle, Washington, and Paul (Leslie) Schneider of Ellensburg, Washington; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Shirley (Floyd) Reichard and Donna (Don) Callaway, both of Brigham City, Utah, and Billie (Jack) Presley of Whidbey Island, Wash. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Art and Lee. A US Navy Veteran, Mr. Schneider was a reactor plant general foreman for the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.  He also owned an electronics store, and drove truck for Swift Trucking.  He was an active member of Grace Bible Church in Port Orchard and Enumclaw, Washington.  A God loving man, he enjoyed studying the Bible.  He and his wife loved taking road trips to visit family and friends. Cremation has taken place at Yoder-Culp Crematory. Graveside services at Violett Cemetery will be at 10 am Monday, August 23, conducted by Pastor Bill Richardson of the Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church.  The US Navy will perform the military graveside services assisted by the Goshen VFW Post # 985. Memorial contributions may be made to Elkhart County Center for Hospice Care.
