Laura L. Nauman 56, of Goshen, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 1, 2014, at IU Health Goshen Hospital. She had been ill since 2003 with an auto immune disorder after a miraculous cure in 1995 from an ALS like disorder. She was born in Mishawaka May 25, 1957 to Ronald and Carol (Mercer) Sukolics. On August 5, 1978, she married Stephen A. Nauman in Elkhart. He survives along with her parents of St. Louis, Mo., and four siblings, Lorraine Stevens of Elkhart, David (Lois) Sukolics of Kansas City, Kan., Daniel Sukolics of Elkhart and Stephen (Alleny) Sukolics of Columbus, Ohio. A Goshen resident since 1984, Laura graduated with Elkhart Baptist High School's first graduating class in 1976. For the past 30 years she has served as a board member of Mid America Screw Products, Inc., Elkhart. A woman with diverse interests, Laura was a guitar player and enjoyed leather carving, wood carving and design, acrylic painting and riding dirt bikes. She also enjoyed bow hunting, gun hunting and fishing. She had a great love for children, teaching Bible classes at Shipshewana Scott Elementary school and until 2003 taught the JOY Club (Jesus 1st, Others 2nd Yourself last) at Westview Elementary School. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 7 p.m. funeral service on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Northside Baptist Church, Elkhart. Pastors Dan Gelatt, David Graham and Carl Henry, Northside Baptist Church, will officiate. A private burial will take place at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Goshen, at a later date.
