A Goshen resident since 1962, Laura graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1955 and Methodist School of Nursing, Indianapolis in 1958. She worked as a registered nurse at Goshen Hospital and started home health care in Goshen.
Laura was a servant in her community. She was a cub scout den mother, 4-H leader and Saddle Club project leader. She gave numerous riding lessons to both youth and adults and helped launch the Elkhart County 4-H horse camp that continues today. In more recent years she was integrally involved with the Loveway therapeutic riding program and devoted to training the horses. Laura helped feed countless people through the T.G.I.W. Program at First United Methodist Church, always serving with a smile. She was the first person to greet new neighbors and bring cinnamon rolls or goodies to those who had a need. She was devoted to her family and especially enjoyed making gingerbread houses and cookies with her grandchildren. While Laura will be missed, her legacy of service will live on because of the impact she had on others.
