Laura J. Garber, 82, died from a fall, Friday evening October 8, at her son's home in Carp Lake, Michigan. She was born on June 21, 1928 in Nappanee, to the late Tobias J. and Lydia (Schmucker) Yoder. She was married to Leroy E. Garber on January 1, 1950 in Nappanee. The couple moved to Goshen in 1997. Leroy preceded her in death on March 21, 2003. A homemaker, Mrs. Garber belonged to the Maple City Chapel, and was a dedicated volunteer at the Depot MCC Thrift Shop. She is survived by one daughter, Mary Beth "Betsy" Garber, Littleton, CO; two sons; Donald (Connie) W. Garber, Goshen, Gerald (Janet) Garber, Carp Lake, MI; five sisters, Mary (Nelson) Martin, Treva (Harold) Liechty, both of Goshen, Esther (Menno) Kuhns, Trego, WI, Ruth (Glen) Graber, Spooner, WI, Verna (Jim) Trautman, Beaver Falls, PA; one brother, W. Ray Yoder, Phoenix, AZ; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Melvin Stutzman, Goshen. She was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Yoder. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, October 12, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Maple City Chapel, Goshen. Pastor Mel Shetler will officiate. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be gived to Maple City Chapel or to Mennonite Central Committee, Akron, PA.
