Latif "Roy" Umar

Latif “Roy” Umar, 73, of Marion and formerly of Goshen, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2020 at the V.A. Medical Center, Marion.

He was born January 29, 1947 in Germany to Lutfulla “Joe” and Rachima “Maria” (Stic) Umar. They preceded him in death along with his step-mother, Vera (Kuska) Federow Umar and brother, John Umar.

Survivors include a brother, Lewis Umar of New York and five nieces and nephews.

Mr. Umar served in the U.S. Army from 1967-70, and the U.S. Navy for four months in 1971.

Roy will be missed by his family and friends; and those who dedicated time helping him including the local police department.

A private burial has taken place at Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen.

Friends may pay their respects on Friday, October 2, 2020, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, following the 6 p.m. Military Salute by the Goshen Veterans’ Honor Guard.

Memorial gifts may be directed to the National Audubon Society or the Humane Society of Elkhart County.
