In Loving Memory of Larry Jay Warstler
Larry Jay Warstler, 84, of Goshen, Indiana, passed away peacefully at Goshen Hospital on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at 1:02 a.m.
Born on August 9, 1941, in Goshen, Larry was the son of Adrian Warstler and Martha (Zentz) Miller. A lifelong resident of the area, Larry was known for his quiet strength, unwavering work ethic, generous heart, and deep love for his family. He lived a life marked by service, craftsmanship, and kindness, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Larry was a gifted mechanic who could fix just about anything. He was truly a man of many talents, and his passion for working with his hands led him to build and restore several classic automobiles over the years. Whether helping a friend, restoring a treasured vehicle, or tackling a difficult repair, Larry took pride in doing every job with honesty, skill, and care.
Larry believed in investing in future generations. As a young man, he achieved the highest rank in Boy Scouts and later dedicated countless hours as an active Boy Scout leader, mentoring young people and teaching them the values of integrity, perseverance, and service.
He is lovingly survived by his children, Heather (Nathan) Elliott of Prior Lake, Minnesota; Troy (Haley) Warstler of Middlebury, Indiana; Coni (Rebecca Clifford) McCloughen of South Bend, Indiana; Carrie (Weber) Miller of Goshen ; and Ronald (Robin) Sayles of White Pigeon, Michigan. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immeasurable happiness to his life.
Larry is also survived by his brother, Roger (Cindy) Warstler of Burket, Indiana, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Brenda (Warstler) Hartman; grandson Robert McCloughen and his brothers Bryan Warstler and Jeff Warstler.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation two hours prior to Larry's graveside service with military honors. As those who loved him come together to celebrate his life, they will remember a man whose greatest gifts were not only his hands that could build and repair, but also his heart that loved without condition, his willingness to help anyone in need.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we are grateful for the many years we were blessed to share with Larry. His example of humility, loyalty, hard work, and quiet compassion will live on in the lives of those he touched.
Public visitation will be on Friday, July 10, 2026 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
Private burial will take place at Violett Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be sent to Boy Scouts of America or National Park Foundation.
"Those we love never truly leave us. They live on in every story we tell, every lesson they taught, and every act of kindness we share in their memory."
