Larry E. Reed

Larry Eugene Reed, 83 of Middlebury went to his Heavenly home Wednesday, May 7, 2025, peacefully with his family by his side.

He was born May 5, 1942 to Donald E. and Doris May (Garber) Reed.

He graduated in 1960 from Goshen High School. He married Jeanette Bean in 1961. He graduated from Indiana State University with a bachelor’s degree in special education; after graduating he worked for ADEC for 18 yrs. He then worked for Prudential for 13 years. He retired from Relizon in 2003.

After retirement he and Jeanette spent 15 years off and on in Florida before returning to Indiana permanently in 2021. He loved traveling with family and friends, golf, wood working and carving decoys. He also had five close friends from Jr High school who got together to play poker, and get together as couples and families up to this day.

He is survived by his wife; son, Alan (Terry) Reed of Phoenix, Maryland; daughter, Stephanie (Andrew) Bontrager of Goshen; six grandchildren, Patrick, Tanner and Lucy Bontrager, Zoey (Zach) Youell and Ally and Cami Reed; and three great grandsons, Jacob Youell and Bradley and Braxton Bontrager.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dennis Reed and sister Barbara Hudson.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to the 12 p.m. memorial service at First United Methodist Church, 720 South Main St., Middlebury.
