Laroy "Bud" Grooms, 75, of Goshen, died Sunday evening, May 22, 2011 at his home. He was born September 18, 1935 in Ligonier to the late Merril and Sally (Jones) Grooms. On October 6, 1956 he married Barbara Culp in Goshen. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, John (Donna) Grooms of Rochester, and Glenn Grooms of Goshen; three grandsons, Ryan, Shawn and Tyler Grooms; four sisters, Carole (Ben) Russo of Elkhart, Mary (Bob) Culp of Goshen, Janet (Aaron) Prather of Osceola, and Pat (John) Cannon of Auburn. A 1953 graduate of Ligonier High School, he worked at Penn controls for 15 years and retired from Monaco in 2002. He attended Grace Community Church and was a past member of Goshen City Church of the Brethren where he served as usher and deacon. A member of the Two Cylinder Club he was an avid NASCAR fan and loved his cats. Friends may call 2-4 pm and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, and an hour prior to the service at the church. The funeral service will be held at 11a.m., Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Grace Community Church. Pastor Jeremiah Olson will officiate. His body will be cremated following the service and a private family graveside service will be held at Violett Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to National Kidney Foundation or Grace Community Church.
