Lari Jo Miller, 69, of New Paris, died on March 25, 2024, at Parkview Regional Hospital, Ft. Wayne, where she had been a patient for two days.
She was born November 3, 1954, to Larry and Emily Jo (Heist) Shaver.
On December 31, 1999, she married Jeffrey Miller in Goshen.
He survives along with five children, Davey Hoffman, and Heather (Curt) Schuh both of Edwardsburg, Michigan, Tiffani Hoffman of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Amber (Mark) Schroering, and Melissa (John) Knepper both of Brownsburg.
Lari had a profound love and admiration for her nine grandchildren.
She spoke fondly about growing up with her four sisters who also survive, Teri (Joe) Reed of Elkhart, Traci (Charles) Reed, and Judi Shaver-Duncan, both of Aurora, Colorado, and Stephani (Michael) Shaver-Vouras of Denison, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and baby daughter, Jenny Hoffman.
In addition to enjoying time with her family, she was an animal lover, an accomplished crafter and could take anyone on in a game of Scrabble. Blending her love of animals and crafting she raised alpacas for ten years. She sheered their fleece, spun the fiber and used it to make beautiful blankets and afghans.
What she could do with her hands was astonishing but what she did with her heart rose to the top. She spent hours blessing the Depot with her endless energy and work ethic. She became an integral part of the work at the Depot. She believed in what they stood for and marveled at the countless lives the organization touched.
She held numerous positions over the years, often in an administrative clerical capacity, but it was the people whom she worked with that became important to her. She spoke of the various circles of people she came to know through her jobs and it was clear it was the relationships she cherished.
Lari had become a part of the West Goshen Church recently. It did not take the congregation long to love her and welcome her desire to serve in multiple capacities. What Lari will be remembered for the most is her loving testimony she shared with the West Goshen Church minutes before her medical emergency. Some of the last words she was able to communicate were: Her deep love and need for God and her hunger to know more about Him. Her desire to serve and obey God. Her longing to be a part of a community and her love and appreciation for her husband, Jeff.
Lari’s legacy of selflessness lives on as she chose to be an organ donor. Lives will continue to be touched because of her commitment to give. She will be deeply missed.
Friends may call Friday, March 29, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at West Goshen Church, and Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service at the church.
Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
