Larayne M. Siegmann

LaRayne M. Siegmann, 68, of Goshen, died Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Goshen Hospital from surgical complications after a brief illness.

LaRayne was born April 15, 1949 in Geneva, Nebraska to Henry and Fern (Troyer) Lauber. Always making music and investing in others, LaRayne loved her family and friends deeply and showed that through deep conversations and her amazing green salad. On June 30, 1973 she married, as she always said, “the perfect man for me”, James L. Siegmann in Goshen. Five years later they brought home twin boys and raised them along the Elkhart River.

LaRayne was a Shickley High School graduate, Shickley, Nebraska, a Hesston College graduate, Hesston, Kansas, and earned her Bachelor’s degree at Goshen College.  She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church, Goshen, a past member of Tri Kappa Sorority, and the Library Club of Goshen.

LaRayne founded Compassionate Caregivers in 2004 and worked tirelessly to better the lives of her clients until her retirement in 2014. She served on the Greencroft Board of Directors and Goshen College Afternoon Sabbatical Committee and more recently worked with the Transitional Coaching Program with the Center for Community Justice. She passionately believed in helping others and supporting the needy.

She is survived by her husband, Jim, along with twin sons, Adrian J. (Caroline) Siegmann of Portland, Oregon and Jason S. (Havilah) Siegmann of Grand Rapids, Michigan; 11 grandchildren, Emerald, Elaina, Christopher, Hailey, Christine, Julia, Kail, Phoebe, Asher, Nathan and Elodie; a brother, John (Mary) Lauber of Geneva, Nebraska; and three sisters, Carolyn (Wendel) Mosier of Geneva, Nebraska, Shirley Ulrich of Hesston, Kansas, and Lois (Glenn) Zook of Dublin, Ohio.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nelda Moore, a brother, Philip Lauber, and brothers-in-law, Ronald Moore and Dennis Ulrich.

Friends may call Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen.

A 1:30 p.m. funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, April 18, at Faith Lutheran Church, 406 S. 5th Street, Goshen.  Rev. John Hickey and Rev. Jessica King will officiate.

According to her wishes cremation will take place following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Faith Lutheran Church or Community Foundation of Elkhart County.
