Lana K. Kauffman

Lana K. Kauffman, 60, of Syracuse, died Friday, April 1, 2011, at Elkhart General Hospital where she had been three weeks.  She had been ill 12 years with pulmonary fibrosis. She was born January 20, 1951 in Elkhart to Dan and Dorothy (Miller) Chupp of Nappanee.  She married Mike J. Kauffman on April 8, 1972 in Nappanee.  He survives. Also surviving are a son, Kent (Stephanie) Kauffman of Goshen; a daughter, Erin (Brent) Berkeypile of Milford; four grandchildren, Brandon and Hunter Kauffman and Grady and Elise Berkeypile; and a sister, Toyz-Anne (Scott) Stokes of Nappanee. A lifetime resident of the area and a 1969 graduate of Nappanee High School, Mrs. Kauffman attended Manchester College and was a member of Maple Grove Church of the Brethren. She worked as the Gift Shop manager at Camp Mack since 2003.  She had previously worked as a trainer for MDK Corporation. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 4, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2011, funeral service at Maple Grove Church of the Brethren, 20430 CR 46, New Paris.  Pastor Dwayne Runkle and brother-in-law, Rev. Herman Kauffman will officiate. Burial will follow in Whitehead Cemetery, New Paris. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Camp Mack Building Fund or Maple Grove Church of the Brethren.
