Lamont "Monte" Sweisberger

Lamont "Monte" Sweisberger, 73, of Elkhart, died Sunday morning, April 13, 2014, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born October 7, 1940 in Wakarusa to Adam and Helen (Kehr) Sweisberger. He is survived by two children, Jesse Keith and Sara Heiliger, both of Elkhart; and a granddaughter, Morgan Heiliger. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Roger Sweisberger and his ex-wife, Diane (Tracy) Henry. A 1957 graduate of Concord High School he attended Santa Ana College, Calif. Mr. Sweisberger served with the US Marines in Vietnam. He was stationed at Twenty-Nine Palms in California and served in Okinawa. For 33 years he worked as an Allstate Insurance agent in the area. His hobbies included astronomy, gardening, wine making and sailing on Lake Wawasee. A licensed pilot, he enjoyed flying and was a member of the Mishawaka Pilots Club. He also enjoyed spending weekends at the family cottage on Gravel Lake, Marcellus, Michigan. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the 12, noon. memorial service on Friday, April 18, 2014, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Jim Shrock, First Baptist Church, will officiate. Cremation has taken place at Yoder-Culp Crematory.
