K.W. Kurtz

April 27, 1922 — January 3, 2015

Kalleele "K.W." W. Kurtz, 92, of Millersburg, passed away Saturday evening, January 3, 2015, at his home after a nine month battle with cancer. He was born April 27, 1922 in Jackson Township, Elkhart County to Frederick and Alpha E. (Evans) Kurtz. On Feb. 1, 1946 he married Phyllis E. Darr in Union Township. She survives along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Pauline Overleese and two brothers, Kenneth and Donald Kurtz. A 1940 graduate of New Paris High School, Mr. Kurtz served during World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was an active member of the Goshen Honor Guard, the American Legion Post #484 and the Goshen D.A.V. He served as commander of the Syracuse American Legion for three terms. He was also a member of the Goshen Masonic Lodge #12, the Scottish Rite Consistory of South Bend and the Shrine Mizpah Temple of Fort Wayne. Friends may call on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Larry Byrnes, family friend, will officiate. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Brown Cemetery, Millersburg. Memorial contributions may be given to Goshen Home Care and Hospice.
