Kirby Freeland, 82, of Goshen passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025 at home with his family.
He was born February 9, 1942 in Arab, Alabama to Claude and Essie (LeCroy) Freeland.
On August 30, 1968 he married Betty Logan in Rosa, Alabama at the Rosa United Methodist Church.
She survives along with children, Amy (James) Borum of Goshen and Brian (Victoria) Freeland of Nappanee; seven grandchildren, Brandon (Amanda) Reasonover, Christopher (Claryce) Reasonover, Courtney (Brian) Johnson, Brody and Peyton Freeland, Brianna (Charlie) Leonard and Bryce (Lexi) Borum; and five great-grandchildren, Ava, Jayda, Benjamin, Layla and Maverick.
He is also survived by five sisters, Jean Bobo, Gail (Lynn) Taylor, Linda Smith, Brenda Tate and Carolyn (Phil) Holland, all of Alabama.
A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Freeland served from 1964-1966. Following his service, he was married and brought the family north to New Paris, Indiana where he worked as a purchasing agent for Merchants Metals.
Kirby enjoyed attending Nappanee Missionary Church for the last 24 years.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen.
There will also be one hour of visitation Wednesday, January 8, beginning at 10 a.m. prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service at Goshen Christian Church, 2133 Berkey Ave., Goshen, where Kirby had previously attended. Pastor Rick Brouillette will officiate.
Burial with military honors will follow at West Goshen Cemetery.
