KeShawn Smith, 18, of Goshen passed away in a car accident on February 23, 2019 in Leesburg.
KeShawn was born in Elkhart, Indiana on December 26, 2000 and is the son of Liza and Tyler Keenoy. He was a Senior at Bethany Christian High School where he was set to graduate in the Spring. After Bethany he planned to attend college, undecided between Huntington or Grace College in Indiana.
KeShawn was an active member of Crossroads Community Church in Goshen where he participated in the youth group and was in the student ministry program. He loved to play soccer and basketball where he was one of the captains for both varsity teams. In his high school career, he spent three years as a varsity starter for both sports.
He will be remembered for his contagious smile, infectious personality, and professional eating skills. KeShawn’s outgoing personality made him a real connector, always bringing people together. Win or lose he always loved Notre Dame, traveling, shark fishing, as well as all kinds of music. Outside of sports and school he enjoyed driving jeeps, riding dirt bikes, four wheelers, or golf carts.
Survivors include, parents Liza and Tyler Keenoy; two brothers, Taylor and Teagan Keenoy; girlfriend, LeAnna Miller; and two fur buddies Chewbacca and Sasha. Also surviving are maternal great grandmother, Delores Wolf; grandparents, Cindi Boehlke and Tim (Becki) Boehlke; two aunts, Amanda Boehlke and Lexus Kantz; paternal grandparents Tim and Mary Sue Keenoy; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins on both sides.
Funeral services will be held at Crossroads Community Church located at 57415 Alpha Drive in Goshen at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019 with visitation following until 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be directed to Bethany Christian Schools Athletic Fund with the hope of honoring KeShawn in a special way.
