Kenneth Lehman Weeber

July 30, 1916 — January 8, 2017

Kenneth Lehman Weeber, of Goshen, 100 years, 5 months and 9 days passed into eternal rest Sunday, January 8, 2017.

Kenneth was born in Johnson County, Iowa to George and Chloe (Lehman) Weeber. The family moved to Indiana to the farms located at the corner of County Road 115 and 18 when Ken was 2 years old.

Kenneth attended Monger Elementary and graduated in the class of 1935 from Concord High School. Post training included De Vries Technical Institute in Chicago.

On June 21 , 1942 he married Eleanor (Cutter) Weeber. She passed away February 24, 1976.

He worked with his father, George, as a carpenter on several houses in the Elkhart area. Later Kenneth became a full time dairyman, purchasing the farm coming out of the depression.  Kenneth and his wife Eleanor were active in the Concord community, particularly the schools where Kenneth served 14 years as a member of the Concord School Board during the 1960s-70s.

His children survive: a daughter, Karen of Goshen; sons Winton (Miki) Weeber of Seneca, South Carolina and James (Amy) Weeber of Goshen. He is survived by four grandchildren, Jeffery Weeber of Atlanta, Georgia; Bradley (Kristen) Weeber of Jacksonville, Florida, Rebecca (Brad) Showalter of Goshen and Rachel Weeber of Fishers; and two great grandsons: Jackson Showalter and Benjamin Weeber.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor and his sister, Dorothea (Lynn) Fickies.

Kenneth enjoyed electronics and photography. He taught his children to photograph and develop film and prints in their basement darkroom.  Ken also designed and built various pieces of farm equipment.

Kenneth was a member of the Dunlap United Methodist Church.   He was the eldest member of the Elkhart County Farm Bureau.  Ken also had the longest membership in Elkhart County Farm Bureau, January 1, 1941 until his death.

Family and friends may call Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 10 a.m., Friday, January 13, 2017 funeral service at Dunlap United Methodist Church.   Pastor Jerry Turner will officiate.  Burial will be at Rice Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Max Mertz and his staff, and Kim, Deb, Janet, Sarah and Eldon of Goshen Hospice for their care and kindnesses given to Kenneth and his family.
