Kenneth Lechlitner 89, of Goshen died Wednesday morning, November 13, 2013 at Greencroft Healthcare, Goshen. He was born July 22, 1924 near Wakarusa to Jacob Henry and Ida (Loucks) Lechlitner. On March 30, 1946 he married Betty Hurst in Milford. She survives along with a son, Don (Teresa) Lechlitner, of Goshen; two daughters, Nancy (Gordon) Compton, of Elkhart, and Barb (Chuck) Haarer, of Middlebury; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lowell (Velda) Lechlitner; and two sisters, Treva (Walter) Shidler, and LaVeta Weaver, all of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Floyd and Walter; sisters, Florence Russel and Erma Lechlitner; and a great-grandson, Dustin Taylor. Mr. Lechlitner attended Brenneman Missionary Church for many years, and was a lifelong area farmer and member of the John Deere 2 Cylinder club. He was an avid John Deere collector and loved to talk about tractors. He received the Outstanding Young Farmer, and together with his wife, the Outstanding Farm Family Award in Elkhart County. In later years they enjoyed 37 winters in Florida with many good friends. Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Sat., November 16, 2013 and 1 to 5 Sun., November 17, 2013 and one hour prior to the Monday, November 18, 2013, 10 a.m. funeral service, all at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. Craig Garber of Christian Fellowship of Goshen will officiate. Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the Seed to Feed program.
