Keith L. Swihart, 76, of Goshen, died at IU Health Goshen Hospital late Wednesday morning, January 22, 2014. He was born December 21, 1937 in Goshen to Austin Z. and Leena Mae (Edson) Swihart. He married Janet M. Farrell August 9, 1959 in Goshen. She died May 1, 2013. He is survived by three sons, Stephen (Linda) Swihart, Robert "Rob" (Rebecca) Swihart and David (Mindi) Swihart, all of Goshen; seven grandchildren, Michael (Alicia) Swihart, Nancy (Joel) Barker, Nathan, Aimee, Daniel, Sarah and Rachel; and two sisters, Janette Steele, Belbrook, Ohio and Rebecca "Becky" Martin, Greely, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a sister, Meredith Swihart. A lifelong Goshen resident, Mr. Swihart was CEO and owner of Flair Interiors, Inc. A 1955 graduate of Goshen High School, Mr. Swihart served in the U.S. Navy from 1956-58. An avid supporter of GHS athletics and academics, he was inducted into the GHS Community Wall of Fame. A charter member of Maplecrest Country Club, he was also a member and former president of the Wawasee Yacht Club, a former president of Goshen Board of Aviation and a board member of the Center for Community Justice. A man of many hobbies, Keith was an avid golfer, a licensed pilot, a certified scuba diver and passionate about sailing and Notre Dame athletics. Friends may call 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2014, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A private family service will be conducted on Saturday. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Goshen Gridiron Club or Goshen Community Schools Foundation.
