Kathryn I. Reimer

Kathryn I. Reimer, 87, of Goshen, died Saturday evening, December 2, 1006, at Courtyard of Goshen, where she had been the past ten weeks.   She was born May 30, 1919, in Nappanee, Indiana, to Esther Truex.  She married Lester Berkey on November 3, 1940, in Nappanee.  He died June 5, 1977.  On July 19, 1980, she married Martin F. Reimer in Elkhart.  He died July 23, 1988.   A lifelong resident of the area, Mrs. Reimer was a homemaker.  She had worked for 18 years as a secretary in the Financial Aid office of Goshen College and as a bookkeeper at Farm Bureau Credit Union.   A 1936 graduate of Nappanee High School, Mrs. Reimer was a member of the Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church, Goshen; Women’s Club of Goshen in the fine arts division and the Christian Women’s Club; and a charter member of the City Homemakers.   She is survived by a daughter, Janet (Ken) Brown of Goshen; two sons, Stephen (Barb) Berkey of Rowland Heights, California and David (Kathaleen) Berkey of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a step-son, Dr. Marvin (Dr. Sylvia) Reimer of Watertown, New York; and a step-daughter, Darlene (Walter) Huitema of Whittier, California.  Also surviving are three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her husbands.   Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, December 8, at the funeral home.   A 1:00 p.m., funeral service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home on Saturday, December 9, 2006.  Rev. Marvin Engbrecht of the Nappanee Missionary Church and Rev. George Nantz of the Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church will officiate   Burial will be in the West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen.   Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be given to the Goshen Care at Home Hospice.
