Kathryn Joan Miller

August 9, 1931 — March 29, 2025

Goshen

Kathryn Joan Miller, Age 93, of Goshen, IN, died on March 29, 2025. Kathryn was a resident of Greencroft Health Care. She received excellent care by the staff of Greencroft and then more recently due to declining health–by the Goshen Hospice team.

On her last day, several family members spent the afternoon and evening with her at her bedside.  Later that night, Kathryn slipped away to heaven. We like to imagine her meeting the love of her life, Pete there, as well as her son, Larry Miller, grandson Jeremy Plank and great-grandson, Henry Benjamin Izeke. Also predeceased are her parents Menno and Velma Litwiller, and sister Marilyn Slabach, and son-law Dwight Miller and other precious in-laws.

Kathryn was born August 9, 1931, in Kokomo, Indiana. She moved with her family to Millersburg, Indiana where she attended high school.  As a student she excelled at learning Latin and spelling. As a teenager she enjoyed roller-skating and ping-pong!  She met and fell in love with Perry (Pete) Miller. Together they created a loving and fun home where their family gathered weekly. In-laws were accepted as family members and grandchildren enjoyed their weekly cousin play times. Kathryn was a fun-loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a great cook and enjoyed hosting family and friends.  Dinner was usually followed by a competitive game of cards. With her good sense of humor, she was known to often have a joke ready that she’d share with certain friends or the ushers on a Sunday morning at church.  Kathryn was a good listener, and friends often called her for encouragement or for advice.

Remaining to cherish Kathryn’s memory are children, Lonnie (Judy) Miller, Aransas Pass, Texas; Jan Miller, Goshen; and daughter-in-law Carolyn Miller, Millersburg.  Brother, Morris Litwiller and sister Doris Webber, both of Florida; and sister-in-law Mary Ellen Blough, Goshen as well as many nieces and nephews.

Grandchildren called her “Grandma Pete” and many of them fondly remember her playing (competitive) table games with them, her candy jar and her Millersburg pizza carry-out orders:  Lana (Andrew) Miller, Harrisonburg, Virginia;  Lori Ann (Henry) Izeke, Millersburg, IN; Stephanie (Jeremy) Entz, Newton, Kansas; Jessi (David) Binkley, New Caney, Texas; Jodi (Ryan) Russey, Kalamazoo, Michigan; Jami (Ryan) Hawkins, Goshen; Joshua (Lisa) Plank, Katzrin, Israel; Nickole (Plank) Goshen; and Step-Granddaughter, Harlee (Michael) McCulloch, Syracuse, IN. Kathryn had a family who loved her, including 24 great-grandchildren and 1 Step great-granddaughter.

Kathryn was buried at a private graveside service on April 1, at the Foundation Community Church Cemetery (formerly Clinton Brick Mennonite Church Cemetery) Pete and Kathryn attended Clinton Brick Mennonite Church during their younger years. More recently they became members of Clinton Frame Church.
