Kathleen R. Carlson, 64, of Goshen, died Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Courtyard Healthcare. She was born Oct. 12, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri to Ray Rosco and Nellie Lu (Clark) Rice. On Nov. 18, 2004 she married James Carlson in Oak Park, Illinois. He survives along with three sons, Richard (Debra) Bowers of Bristow, Virginia, Ray (Krista) Bowers of Norfolk, Virginia and Dwight (Ashley) Bowers of Taylor, Michigan; a step-daughter, Amy (Tom) Grochowalski of South Bend; seven grandchildren and a sister, Marguerite (David) Ruby of Richmond, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Diane Noraas. A Goshen resident since 1979, Kathleen was a professional singer. She authored a children's book, At This Very Minute and produced her own CD of hymns. She was a charter member of the Noon Optimist Club, Goshen and had also served as secretary for the club. Friends may call Wednesday, June 25, 2014, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where an 11 a.m., Thursday, June 26, 2014, funeral service will take place. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
