Katherine Elizabeth Mccarthy Schrock

Katherine E. McCarthy Schrock, 104, of Goshen, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Courtyard Healthcare.

She was born July 4, 1911 in Garden City, Missouri to Joseph Ami and Lydia Katherine (Schrock) Miller.

On June 4, 1944 she married John “Jack” G. McCarthy.  He died December 22, 1964.  On August 13, 1967 she married Albert R. Schrock.  He died October 20, 1983.

She is survived by four children, John (Ann) McCarthy of Huntersville, North Carolina; Mary Kay (Stan) Eichelberger of Franktown, Colorado; Theresa (Don) Gunden of Goshen and Michael (Chere) McCarthy of Liberal, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Deirdre (David) Houk, Joel Eichelberger, Jon (Charmian) Eichelberger, Katy (Pat) Amann, Andrea (Ben) Meloche, Ross Gunden and Heidi McCarthy; eight great-grandchildren and a sister, Mary Eleanor Kochsmeier of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands; a great-grandson, Pearce Eichelberger and three brothers, Norman, J. Emerson and S. Paul Miller.

A graduate of Goshen College, Mrs. Schrock taught for more than 30 years in Illinois and Missouri and helped start two Christian schools.

She moved to the Goshen area in May 2013 coming from Glendale, Arizona where she was a member of Desert Hills Evangelical Church.

Friends may call Wednesday, April 13, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  A 2 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016, funeral service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, Madison and 5th Streets, Goshen.  Pastor John Hickey and family friend, Rev. Leonard Garber will officiate.

Additional services and burial will follow in Garden City, Missouri.
