Katherine E. Longcor, 91, of Goshen, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at Greencroft Healthcare. She was born October 19, 1919 in Milford to the late Henry and Frieda (Lanz) Ruch. She married Coalter M. Longcor on June 23, 1940, in Goshen. He died July 5, 2004. Surviving are three daughters, Sally (David) McFarren of New Paris, Tana Brooks of Goshen, and Merry (Terry) Mast of Ligonier; four sons, William (Judy) Longcor of Milford, Bryan (Amy) Gunn of Goshen, Tone (Sineang) Oy of Elkhart and Dung Pham of Goshen; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Wilma Berkey of Bristol. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lena Beer and Lea Frush; and four brothers, Walter, Robert, Fred and Elmer Ruch. A homemaker, she graduated from Milford High School in 1938. She was a member of Goshen City Church of the Brethren where she taught Sunday school and served as a deacon and prayer warrior. She volunteered for many years for the Red Cross, The Window and Camp Fire Girls. She was also a foster parent for more than 20 years. She helped her husband as secretary and bookkeeper for Longcor’s Bike Shop, Longcor’s Security and at the Purl Street Grocery. Friends may call 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, December 19, 2010, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 4:00 p.m., funeral service will be conducted. Pastor Bev Weaver and Tim Yoder will officiate. Burial will be in West Goshen Cemetery on Monday, December 20, at 9:30 a.m. Memorials may be given to Goshen City Church of the Brethren or Steuben County Therapeutic Riding School.
