Katherine E. “Kitty” Ernst, 82, of Goshen, died early Wednesday afternoon, December 14, 2005, at Goshen General Hospital. She was born December 4, 1923, in Gary, Indiana to Monroe Lee and Elizabeth Blodwin (McDonald) Guth. On March 27, 1943, in Grenada, Mississippi, she married Robert O. Ernst. He died August 25, 1998. She had lived in Goshen since 1954. She was a homemaker and worked for five years at Goshen Rubber as a clerk in the Receiving Department. She had also worked a few years at Clausing Inc., Goshen. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Goshen. Mrs. Ernst was a longtime avid member of the Goshen City Bowling Leagues. She served as Secretary of the Women’s City Bowling Association for a number of years. She is survived by three daughters, Catherine (Todd) Cripe of Goshen, Betty Hathaway of Zepher Hills, Florida and Jean (Mark) Reed of Kokomo; a son, Lee E. (Deb) Ernst of Goshen, 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Mary Jan (Dee) Bell of Bradenton, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, a son, Donald W. Ernst, two sisters, Betty VanCleave and Etta Sopko and two brothers, James and Richard Guth. A 2 p.m. memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2005, at the First Presbyterian Church, Goshen. Pastor Alan Griffin will officiate. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Goshen Hospice Care at Home or First Presbyterian Church, Goshen.
