Katherine "Toddy" Bowser

Katherine “Toddy” Bowser, 93, of Goshen, died Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at the home of her son.

She was born February 6, 1925 in Vincennes to Edward F. and Mary (Dedman) Kixmiller.

On June 26, 1948 she married Dr. Philip Gortner Bowser, Sr. in Goshen.  He died December 13, 2000.

Survivors include three sons, Philip G. (Sandy) Bowser, Jr. of Goshen, Dr. Thomas E. (Donna) Bowser of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and John A. (Tena) Bowser of Goshen; 10 grandchildren, Phil, Steve, Kelli, Matt, Laura, Katie, John, Kevin, Sam and Daniel; and five great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lee Strack.

Toddy was a 1942 graduate of Shortridge High School, Indianapolis.  She attended Indiana University, Bloomington, where she belonged to the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.  She also participated in Beacon Lights, Tri Kappa, and Associate Tri Kappa sororities.  Toddy was a charter member of Maplecrest Country Club.

She served as an Elder and a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church, Goshen and was a long-time volunteer at Goshen Hospital.

According to her wishes cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory. A private family graveside service will be held at Violett Cemetery.

Friends may call Saturday, February 9, 2019, from 10 a.m., until the 11:30 a.m. memorial service at First Presbyterian Church, 215 E. Lincoln Ave., Goshen.  Pastor Alan Griffin will officiate.

Memorial gifts may be directed to Goshen Home Care and Hospice or Faith Mission, Elkhart.
