Karen J. Stickel, 66, of Goshen, died early Tuesday morning, September 12, 2023 at the Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart, after a long courageous battle with cancer.
She was born January 22, 1957 in Bremen to Robert and Joan (Rohrer) McBrier.
On July 23, 1982 she married Steven Stickel in Wakarusa.
He survives along with a daughter, Marla Stickel, Elwood; a son, Clint (Michelle) Stickel, Osceola; grandchildren, Reese Mae and Harper Grace; and a brother, Denny (Doris) McBrier, Albion.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Witmer (2020).
Karen was a 1975 graduate of Northwood High School where she spent some time as the school mascot and enjoyed being in theater productions through the school. She owned and operated her own Massage Therapy business for 27 years. Karen enjoyed owning her own business because it allowed her to be flexible and help take care of/ watch her grandchildren who lovingly call her Gammy Gammy.
Karen was an avid crafter and loved her monthly gatherings with her group of friends. They loved making projects, laughing, and going out for margaritas after.
A celebratory open house will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen.
Private burial will take place at Olive West Cemetery, Elkhart.
