Judy L. Counterman Thalls

Judy L. Counterman Thalls, 56, of Goshen died Thursday, December 13, 2007, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend.  She had been ill for the last few years. She was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on May 23, 1951, to Murray and Ruth (Johnson) Counterman.   She married Steven M. Thalls in Angola on August 20, 1970.  He survives. Mrs. Thalls, a long time Angola native, moved to Goshen in 1981, coming from Indianapolis. A 1969 graduate of Angola High School, she had worked for Goshen Chiropractic for a number of years as a receptionist. Mrs. Thalls was an active member of the Goshen Christian Church where she was quite involved in the Lady’s Group.  She also devoted much of her time and energies to the 4-H Saddle Club of Elkhart County. She is survived by her husband, Steven; her parents, Murray and Ruth Counterman of Pleasant Lake, Indiana; a son, Nick S. Thalls of Goshen; two sisters, Sandra (William) Groves of Marion and Tracy (William) Boyer of Angola; two brothers, Jeff (Karen) Counterman and Spark (Tammy) Counterman, both of Angola; her in-laws, Adrian and Nancy Thalls of Pleasant Lake; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday and Monday, December 16 and 17 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 18, 2007, funeral service will be conducted at the Goshen Christian Church, 2133 Berkey Ave.  Rev. Kim Huffman will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
