Joy Constance Olson

Joy Constance Olson, 91, of Goshen, died Tuesday afternoon, August 4, 2009, at her home.  She had been ill the past year. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 8, 1918, to Douglas and Alice (Wanzer) Tweedie.  She married John D. Olson on March 7, 1942, in Wheaton, Illinois.  He survives. She graduated from Wheaton High School and Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts.  A homemaker and 15 year resident of Goshen, Mrs. Olson, was a bridge player; a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Goshen; Maplecrest Country Club; and Elcona Country Club where she enjoyed the sport of curling.  She was a past president of the Chicago Area Gold Association. She is survived by her husband, John; a son, Jeffrey (Jane) Olson of Cadillac, Michigan; a daughter, Leslie Ryan of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Larson of Farmington, Michigan; and a brother, Edwin Tweedie of Wheaton, Illinois. She was preceded in death by a son, Jay Olson in 2002; and a brother, Douglas Tweedie. A 1:30 p.m., Friday, August 7, 2009, memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Goshen with a reception to follow.  Rev. Alan Griffin will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Wheaton, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Parkinson Research.
