Joseph J. Stutzman, 81, Goshen, died Thursday, January 6, 2010, at Goshen General Hospital. He was born June 2, 1929, in Milford to the late Jonas and Amanda (Miller) Stutzman. He married Susan Detweiler on May 27, 1950 in Goshen. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Larry J. Stutzman of Goshen; a daughter-in-law, Sherry Prince of Goshen; two grandchildren, Christie Lea Stutzman and Joseph Stutzman; three step- grandchildren, Dustin, Destinee and Carl Prince; a step-great-grandson; six sisters, Sarah (Willis) Berkey of Bourbon, Dorothy (Kenneth) Geiger of Nashville, Michigan, Maggie Gunden of Pigeon, Michigan, Ruby Martin, Flushing, Michigan, Fannie Mae Birkey of Sarasota, Florida., and Gloria (Ron) Harper of St. Cloud, Florida.; and a brother, Fred Stutzman of Sarasota, Florida. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Stutzman in 1987; and five brothers, Vernon, David, Valentine, Danny Lee and infant Larry Stutzman. Mr. Stutzman owned and operated Stutzman Sunoco Service Station at 624 Lincolnway East for 34 years before retiring in 1994. He served in the US Navy and was a former member of the Goshen Moose Lodge. He loved to fish and enjoyed the family home on Atwood Lake, LaGrange. He was an accomplished country western singer and recording artist, appearing several times at the Buck Lake Ranch with the Indiana Redbird Singers. Friends may call 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, January 9, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where an 11a.m., Monday, January 10, 2011, funeral service will be held. Pastor Richard Rinearson of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church will officiate Burial will be in Clinton Union Cemetery, Goshen.
