Joseph J. Schrock, 89 of Middlebury died Thursday morning, January 21, 2016 at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
He was born May 23, 1926 in Goshen to Ernest Maynard and Irene (Nelson) Schrock.
On August 21, 1990 he married Julie (Hershberger) Davidhizar.
She survives along with three sons, David J. (Kathy) Schrock and Daniel J. (Kelly) Schrock, both of Goshen and Marc (Sue) Davidhizar, Millersburg; a daughter, Jennifer (Mervin) Miller, Millersburg; 11 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a twin brother, James J. Schrock, killed in W.W.II; a brother, Forrest Schrock and a sister, Mary Alice Dorman.
Mr. Schrock was a W.W. II veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corp. in the Pacific Theatre from October 1943 until May 1946. A lifelong area resident, he retired in 1986 from NIPSCO as a natural gas delivery supervisor.
He was a member of the American Legion and First Brethren Church, Goshen. He enjoyed model trains and building and flying model airplanes. He was an excellent artist and woodworker.
Visitation will be Friday, January 22, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2016 funeral service will be held. Pastor John Drexler will officiate.
Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
