Joseph M. Campbell, 85, of Goshen, died Monday evening, October 29, 2012, at Elkhart Hospice House. He was born May 23, 1927, in Topeka, to Charles and Lura (Marshall) Campbell. He married Patty Pierson May 23, 1945, in LaGrange. She survives. Also surviving are four daughters; Janet (Eli) Miller, Adaline (Rod) Miller, Joan (Perry) Miller and Patty Jo (Bill) DeWalt, all of Goshen; four grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Rex Campbell, Santa Maria, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Judy Campbell in 1953. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1945 to 1946. He worked as a machine operator at Goshen Rubber for 41 years, retiring in 1992. A special deputy in LaGrange for five years, he also worked in security at Howe School. He was a member of the American Legion, LaGrange; and the VFW and DAV, both of Goshen. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, November 1, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. An 11:30 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2012, funeral service will be held at the funeral home with Rev. Kim Huffman, Goshen Christian Church, officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange. Memorials may be directed to Elkhart Hospice House or United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.
