Jose Maria Romero, 81, of Goshen, died Tuesday night, December 16, 2014 at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born March 19, 1933 in Joateca, El Salvador to Pascual Romero and Antonia Portillo. Survivors include his wife, Maria F. Romero of Goshen; 12 children, Jose P. (Lorenza) Romero of Elkhart, Eusebio (Rosa) Romero and Angel (Maria) Romero, both of Goshen, Lola (Norberto) Campos of Elkhart, Fermin Romero of Middlebury, Flavia (Jason) Trammell and Cristina (John) English, both of Fresno, California, Paulino (Elsa) Romero and Valerio Romero, both of Goshen, Carolina (Luis Lizarraga) Romero of Mishawka and Jose Fermin Romero and Estela (Alvaro) Romero, both of Elkhart; and a sister and a brother, both of El Salvador. An area resident since 1989, Mr. Romero retired from Culver Duck. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and playing the guitar. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Friends may call Monday, December 22, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 12, noon, funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, December 23, 2014. Pastors Alberto Tass and Juan Joaquin will officiate. Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
