José Luis Diaz, 75, of Goshen, died unexpectedly Monday morning, April 21, 2014, at I.U. Health Goshen Hospital. He was born December 17, 1938 in Penjamillo, Mexico to José Moises and Soledad (Sanchez) Diaz. On October 4, 1959 he married Francisca Lopez in Mexico. She survives along with seven children, Gonzalo Diaz, Patti Cattell-Bell, José "Pep" (Angie) Diaz, Jorge Diaz, Martin (Christa) Diaz, Grace (Jimmy Norton) Rogers and Jess (Bobbi) Diaz; 17 grandchildren, Eric, Cory, Angelica, Jaime, Troy, Kristen, Victoria, Emily, Koren, Chloe, Siara "Leigh-Leigh", Alexa, Dakota, Mackenzie, Kaylie, Austin and Autumn; and a great-granddaughter, Adrianna. Also surviving are seven siblings, Maria Elena Pagan, Miguel Diaz, Esperanza Campos, Manuel Diaz, Salvador Diaz, Francisco G. Diaz and Mary Ann Garcia; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Rick Rogers. A Goshen resident since 1970, Mr. Diaz worked at both ESI Meats and Smoker-Craft before retiring. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m., Friday, April 25, funeral service will be conducted. Father Fernando Jimenez will officiate. Cremation will follow the funeral service and burial of cremated remains will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Ryan's Place or Elkhart County Humane Society in memory of "Maggie".
