Jonathan "Jon" R. Byler, 67, of Goshen, lost his fight with Multiple Myeloma and AL Amyloidosis on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at IU Hospital, Indianapolis, surrounded by his wife and children.
He was born October 15, 1954, in Belleville, Pennsylvania, to Bennett and Lena (Hartzler) Byler.
His surviving siblings are Urbane (Janet) Byler of Goshen, James (Marie) Byler of Belleville, Pennsylvania, Jason (Tillie) Byler of Hesston, Kansas, Ruby (Russ) Freed of East Lansing, Michigan, Chipper Culler of Lyndhurst, Virginia and Sue (Blake) Byler Ortman of Comer, Georgia.
Jon graduated from Eastern Mennonite College in 1976. He owned Cornerstone Carpenters, Inc.
He married Sherrie Thompson in May 1989 at Tri Lakes Community Church, Bristol.
She survives along with two sons, Joel (Katie) Byler of West Lafayette and Jarah Byler of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Calvin.
A member of Pleasant View Church, Jon loved his family and had a great sense of humor.
He was an avid Penn State football fan and he enjoyed hobby farming and flower gardening.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 13, 2022, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, October 14, at Pleasant View Church, 58529 C.R. 23, Goshen. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, October 14, 2022, at the church. Retired Pastor Dale Stoll will officiate.
Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations may be given to Mennonite Disaster Service.
