Jonas "J.D." D. Schrock

Jonas “J.D.” Schrock, 82, of Goshen, died Friday afternoon, March 18, 2011, at Valley View Healthcare Center, Elkhart, where he had been since January. He was born in Arthur, Illinois, on December 26, 1928 to the late Joe J. Schrock, Jr. and Lizzie (Plank) Schrock.  He married Mary Cross on November 25, 1948 in Arthur.  She survives. Also surviving are five children, Maxine J. Kurt of Sandy, Utah, Virginia J. (David) Forgey of Elkhart, Kerm G. (Joan) Schrock of Goshen, Ken G. Schrock of Elkhart and Karl G. Schrock of Goshen; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, John (Judy) Schrock of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Ervin (Barbara) Schrock of Champaign, Illinois. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lovina Heatwole and Katie Rumbaugh. A Goshen resident since 1957, Mr. Schrock owned and operated JD Schrock Excavating for more than 30 years.  Following retirement he did lawn seeding. He was a member of Mount Joy Mennonite Church for over 40 years and an associate member of Wycliffe Bible Translators. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and an hour prior to the 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 23, 2011, funeral service at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church, Goshen.  Pastor Terry Diener will officiate.
