John Harlan Sizemore, 81, of New Paris, died Friday evening, September 30, 2011, at Courtyard Healthcare, where he had been since May 6. He was born August 8, 1930, in Creekville, Kentucky to the late G. Monroe and Rebecca (Napier) Sizemore. He married Joan Weybright in Flatcreek, Kentucky, on August 24, 1951. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Sandi Sizemore of New Paris, and Leah (Ron) Schrock of Goshen; two sons, James Sizemore and Randall (Terri) Sizemore, both of New Paris; four grandchildren, Randall Jr. (Casey) and Daniel (Carolyn) Sizemore, and Haley and Madison Schrock; a great-granddaughter, Sydney Elphick; and a brother, Herbert Sizemore of Jeffersonville. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Johnny Sizemore. A Goshen College graduate and an ordained minister, Mr. Sizemore was a teacher for 39 years. He taught in various schools in Kentucky, Weldy School in Nappanee, and Osolo Elementary School in Elkhart before retiring. Also, he owned Sizemore Cycle Land, Syracuse. He enjoyed Southern Gospel music and was an avid outdoorsman, especially coon hunting and fishing. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, October 3, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m., funeral service on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at Maple Grove Church of the Brethren. Pastor Dwayne Runkle will officiate. Burial will follow in Baintertown Cemetery, New Paris. Memorials may be given to Maple Grove Church of the Brethren.
