John LaMar Schrock, 81, of Goshen, died Monday evening, August 17, 2009, at the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care in Elkhart.  He had been ill the past two and a half weeks. He was born in Goshen, on November 15, 1927, to Vern and Mary (Price) Schrock.  He married Doris Koerner in 1956 and divorced in 1963.  He then married Elin Phillips in 1979 and divorced in 1987. A lifetime Goshen resident, Mr. Schrock graduated from Goshen High School in 1947 and served in the US Army from 1950 to 1952 with the 45th Infantry in the Korean War.  He was a member of the Plymouth United Church of Christ, American Legion Post #30, VFW Post #985 and Goshen FOP Lodge #81.  He served with the Goshen Police Department from 1955 to 1975.  He was a cook at Maplecrest Country Club and the Elks Club.  He had also worked at Chase Bag Company while a high school student. He is survived by three daughters, Tammy Bostick, Lisa Bostick, both of Warsaw, and Betsy (Brian) Garber of Goshen; a son, Matthew Schrock of Goshen; three grandchildren, Allen Jacobs, Grace Roberts and Lorellee Roberts; a sister, Lorraine Hite of Goshen; and two brothers, Jake (Marjorie) Schrock of Goshen, and Clifford (Beverly) Schrock of Elm City, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Roberts in 2004. Friends may call from noon to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 22, 2009, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  A 3:00 p.m., memorial service will follow.  Pastor Norm Replogle of the West Goshen Church of the Brethren will officiate. Memorial contributions may be given to the Thomas Goodwin Memorial for officers killed in action.
