John J. Prough, 58, of Goshen, died Saturday afternoon, January 31, 2009, at Elkhart General Hospital.  He had been ill the past two weeks. He was born in Goshen on March 28, 1950, to Charles Ray and Shirley Jean (Bigler) Prough.  He married Ann Swihart in Goshen on July 26, 1969.  She survives. A lifetime Goshen resident, Mr. Prough was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and Black Squirrel Golf Course where he golfed in the Thursday night league.  He was a former member of the Goshen Noon Kiwanis Club and had worked with Junior Achievement. A 1968 graduate of Goshen High School, he attended Goshen College from 1968 to 1970.  He had worked as Plant Manager at Gleason Industrial Products since December 1980.  He had also worked as a sales engineer for US Interiors, as a broker for Shand Real Estate and as an industrial engineer for Penn Controls.  He enjoyed family, friends, hunting, fishing and golfing. He is survived by his wife, Ann; a daughter, Angela (Thomas) Campbell of Goshen; a son, Mark Prough of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; two granddaughters, Chelsea and Caitlin; a great-granddaughter, Raina Mae; a sister, Linda (Walter John) Allard of Elkhart: and two brothers, James R. Prough of Goshen and Thomas (Pamela) Prough of Ellettsville, Indiana. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, February 3, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 7:45 p.m. prayer service will be conducted. An 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 4, 2009, funeral service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Goshen, with Father Christopher Smith officiating. Burial will be in West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Indiana Natural Resources Foundation Education Center.
